Dr. Luca Arieni, 50 years old, residing in Castiglione Olona, affiliated with ABM Studio Geologico Associato since 2003, founding partner of ABMGEO S.r.l. since 2019, and founding partner of Geinsubrica snc. He is registered with the Order of Geologists of Lombardy.

Dr. Arieni graduated from the University of Milan in 1996 with a focus on structural geology, mineral resources, and applied geology.

He has been practicing as a freelance professional since 1998, leveraging previous experience in geophysics, geotechnics, and project-related activities. His collaborations with professional firms in the province of Varese span geological and engineering fields.

Dr. Arieni actively contributes to academia as a speaker, thesis advisor, research supporter, and author of original scientific publications.

As a founding partner of ABMGEO S.r.l., he focuses on developing the company’s activities with predominant skills in environmental, energy, hydrogeological, and project-related fields, particularly in soil defense and hydraulic regulation works. He coordinates and plans field investigations, especially in geotechnical, seismic, hydrogeological, and environmental contexts.

I have been married to Renata since 1999, and we have two children.

Like all geologists, my passion lies in the natural environment, whether it’s the sea or the mountains. I definitely prefer a day of trekking in the high mountains or a day out on a rubber boat along the coast over attending a modern art exhibition.

In my youth, I was involved in sports, both playing and coaching volleyball up to the Serie D level. Now, I stay fit through fitness activities, trekking, skiing, and swimming.

Dr. Geol. Marco Canavesi, 39 years old, residing in Cairate, founding partner of ABMGEO S.r.l. since 2019 and founding partner of Geinsubrica snc. He is registered with the Order of Geologists of Lombardy.

Dr. Canavesi graduated from the University of Milan in 2008 with a focus on geological surveying and analysis of sedimentary facies.

He has been practicing as a freelance professional since 2009, leveraging previous experiences in geological surveying (through activities at the University of Milan) and project-related activities (through collaborations with professional firms in the province of Varese).

A founding partner of ABM, specializing in geology, hydrogeology, geotechnics, and seismic activities related to the management and implementation of field operations, topographic surveys, and the design of natural engineering interventions.

I live with Elisabetta in Cairate since 2018.

Contrary to many geologists, I prefer the sea to the mountains. I enjoy spending time with friends and taking walks with my Cane Corso dog named Raskha, whom I adore. However, my greatest passion is basketball. Until a few years ago, I played and was responsible for statistics for Pallacanestro Varese. Now, I am the assistant coach for a Serie D team in the province of Varese.

Dr. Eng. Andrea Rinolfi is the technical director of ABMGEO S.r.l. and owner of Rinolfi Civil Engineering Studio.

He graduated in 2005 from the Polytechnic University of Turin in Civil Engineering – Structures and Geotechnics.

Specialized primarily in structural design, seismic engineering, geotechnics, and hydraulic engineering.

Dr. Eng. Francesco Rotondi, 29 years old, technical employee at ABMGEO S.r.l. since September 2021. He graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan in Environmental and Land Engineering, specializing in soil defense and natural risk prevention.

He has experience in civil protection and emergency management gained through academic studies and volunteer work. Proficient in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and new technologies for environmental analysis.

Hydraulic modeling (using SW MIKE+), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Design, Surveys.

I have been married to Margherita since 2019, and I am the father of Irene, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl.

I love being outdoors, whether in the mountains (climbing and trekking) or by the sea (swimming and scuba diving). I enjoy dabbling in small carpentry projects as well.

Dr. Geol. Matteo Assanelli, born in 1997, technical employee at ABMGEO S.r.l. since January 2023. He graduated in December 2021 from the University of Milan with a degree in Geological Sciences and Technologies, specializing in Geophysics and Structural Geology with applications. He obtained his professional qualification (category A) in November 2022.

Preparation of geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, and hydraulic invariance reports. Field activities include conducting major geotechnical and geophysical surveys.

I have been married to Lucia since January 2023, and we live in Malnate.

I love spending time outdoors, especially in the mountains where I enjoy hiking, climbing via ferratas, and cycling, both on roads and mountain trails.

I always keep myself engaged in various activities; idleness is not for me.

I have participated in a variety of sports; notably, during high school, I competed in alpine skiing, and during university years, I enjoyed amateur cycling.

Dr. Cristina Sordi, 28 years old, residing in the Province of Varese, and employed at ABMGEO S.r.l. since February 2020. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Geological Sciences and Technologies in 2017 and her Master’s degree in Environmental and Territorial Sciences and Technologies in 2019 at the University of Milan – Bicocca.

Through her previous association with ABM Geological Studio during her university years, she deepened her knowledge through two internships and completed her education with an external thesis for her Master’s degree on the environmental redevelopment of the Olona River through the recovery of old water diversions for renewable energy production.

Preparation of geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, hydraulic invariance, and risk analysis reports. Field activities include analysis, surveying, and sampling in geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, and environmental contexts. Hydraulic modeling using MIKE URBAN and MIKE + software.

Since I have always been an animal lover, from a young age I have had four-legged companions, most of whom were rescued from unfortunate situations and conditions. Currently, I live with a dog, three cats, and two aquatic turtles.

I love taking walks with my dog, a mixed-breed named Miguel, in the quiet of nature, especially in forests and mountains.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, exploring various genres, but with a preference for thrillers. Additionally, I attend a meditation course and engage in physical activities like light fitness, gyrokinesis, and yoga.

I recently resumed playing the guitar, which I had started to appreciate during middle school through a music workshop.

To maintain my proficiency in English, I keep myself sharp with small exercises in reading, writing, and listening.

Looking ahead to the future, I strive to reduce my environmental impact through daily actions, opting for products that are as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible. I am passionate about protecting and conserving nature, land, and biodiversity.

Dr. Geologist Paolo Ballerio, born in 1999, employed as a technical worker at ABMGEO S.r.l. since October 2024. Earned a Master’s degree in Earth Sciences with a focus on mineral georesources and geomaterials in April 2024, graduating with a score of 110 with honors.

Fieldwork activities for geological and geotechnical analysis, surveying, and sampling, as well as performing primary geotechnical and geophysical investigations. Drafting geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, and hydraulic invariance reports, proficient in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

I enjoy staying active and engaging in various activities. Over the years, I’ve taken lessons in choir, singing, guitar, and piano, and practiced tennis, swimming, and soccer at an amateur level. I played volleyball competitively, reaching Serie D. Currently, I practice boxing at a competitive level and enjoy skiing recreationally during the winter.

In my free time, I like to explore a variety of interests: from walking and trekking to board game nights, from cooking to woodworking, and from reading to watching TV series. I care deeply about respecting the environment and nurturing my spirituality.

I’m always enthusiastic about learning and discovering new things, whether it’s foreign languages, programming languages, new sports, or other skills. Traveling is one of my greatest passions: I prefer active experiences that allow me to immerse myself in the local culture, with a particular focus on cuisine, rather than trips solely dedicated to relaxation.

I am passionate about skiing, climbing and traveling: all activities that keep me in close contact with the environment and strengthen my bond with nature that I try, in my own small way, to protect.

Over the years I have tried quite a few sports: tennis, swimming, archery, flag football… And today, every now and then, I try to convince myself to go to the gym.

I also have fun with DIY projects, because I love to give shape to ideas, mixing creativity, dexterity and a pinch of creative chaos.

Renata Brianza, 49 years old, administrative employee at ABMGEO S.r.l. since February 2020.

She graduated from the “F. Daverio” Technical Commercial Institute in Varese.

She has several years of experience in accounting and administrative roles.
